IHG Assistant Sales Manager - Leisure (European Markets) at InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa in United Arab Emirates

We’re always looking for new ways to raise the bar. So we’re searching for a Assistant Sales Manager - Leisure with a track record of driving sales and smashing targets to help us fill our rooms, meeting suites and banquet halls.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Work closely with the Director of Sales and other team members to support the development and execution of leisure sales strategies.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure seamless coordination and achievement of sales goals.

  • Support the onboarding and training of new team members by sharing knowledge and best practices.

  • Assist in providing guidance to help new staff members acclimate to their roles.

  • Maintain clear and effective communication within the sales team and with other departments.

  • Ensure that all team members are kept informed about sales initiatives, goals, and updates.

  • Contribute to a supportive team environment by addressing any challenges or issues collaboratively.

  • Foster a positive and motivating atmosphere by recognising and celebrating team achievements.

  • Support team members in achieving their goals and maintaining high levels of engagement and morale.

  • Assist in resolving any team conflicts or issues by promoting open communication and collaborative problem-solving.

  • Help maintain a harmonious working environment.

  • Build and sustain robust relationships with leisure clients, travel agents, and tour operators.

  • Regularly engage with clients to gather feedback, understand their needs, and anticipate their expectations.

  • Deliver exceptional service to enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Act as a key representative of the resort, embodying and promoting the luxury brand image in all interactions.

  • Ensure that sales materials and communications reflect the resort’s high standards and unique offerings.

  • Design and propose bespoke packages and offer tailored to the preferences and requirements of high-end clients.

  • Stay informed about market trends and competitor activities to introduce innovative solutions that elevate the guest experience and differentiate the resort.

  • Conduct regular client meetings and site inspections to build rapport and demonstrate the resort’s facilities and services.

  • Organise and host familiarisation tours for potential clients to showcase the resort’s offerings.

  • Ensure that the sales team and all touchpoints consistently meet or exceed service standards, including being attentive to guests, promptly fulfilling requests, and maintaining a high level of knowledge affecting the guest experience.

  • Regularly solicit and analyse client feedback to identify areas for improvement.

  • Suggest strategies to address any concerns and enhance the overall guest experience.

  • Host and support familiarisation trips and events, including conventions and business group activities.

  • Coordinate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless execution and high client satisfaction.

  • Foster a culture of service excellence within the sales team.

  • Demonstrate a proactive, service-oriented attitude in all client interactions and support team members in resolving any guest complaints or issues effectively.

  • Assist in achieving leisure sales targets and revenue growth by implementing sales strategies and tactics.

  • Manage a designated account base and generate new business opportunities to meet revenue goals.

  • Support the management of the sales budget, ensuring effective resource allocation to optimise return on investment.

  • Monitor financial performance related to leisure sales and propose adjustments to strategies as necessary.

  • Contribute to accurate forecasting and reporting of sales performance.

  • Analyse data to identify trends and opportunities, and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.

  • Monitor competitors' activities and pricing strategies to provide actionable insights and adjust sales approaches accordingly.

  • Utilize competitive intelligence to enhance positioning and strategy.

  • Efficiently handle and track sales leads, ensuring they are appropriately referred to the Director of Sales or converted into business opportunities.

  • Maintain detailed records of lead progress and outcomes.

  • Assess the sales mix and evaluate its impact on the resort’s goals.

  • Provide recommendations for adjustments to improve revenue and profitability.

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of seasonal promotions and special offers.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of these promotions and suggest improvements based on performance metrics.

  • Implement sales strategies developed by the Director of Sales, ensuring alignment with overall resort objectives and adapting tactics as needed to meet changing market conditions.

  • Initiate and prepare tenders for new business, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness in proposals.

  • This job is a sales professional with established sales goals and targets.

  • Conduct all sales activities with integrity and in accordance with the resort’s ethical standards.

  • Promote responsible business practices within the leisure sales function.

  • Support the resort’s sustainability initiatives and CSR efforts by incorporating these values into leisure sales strategies and engaging clients in community-focused projects.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and hotel policies.

  • Assist in identifying and mitigating risks associated with leisure sales activities.

  • Fully adhere to health, hygiene, and safety policies, and participate in sustainability programs.

What We need from you:

  • Minimum 1-2 years proactive sales experience in leisure sales division in a hotel handling European source markets, preferably medium to large leisure-focus hotel or alternatively similar brand or leading beach resort.

  • Must be able to travel in Europe freely.

  • UAE experience essential.

  • Knowledge of Opera is highly advantageous

  • Excellent English written and spoken, another European language is advantageous

  • Hybrid position between Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah
