Ford Motor Company Design Visualization Manager in China
Summary:
• The visualization manager is responsible for overseeing the creation of high-quality visual content for the studio design development process.
• The role covers visualization workstreams including VR/AR reviews, static imagery, animations, data management, digital surface presentations, audio/ visual/ and R&D.
• The manager works closely with cross-functional teams, including CMF, creative design, digital surfacing, and studio engineering to create compelling visual material to validate the design and effectively communicate the design direction.
Key tasks:
Leadership and Management:
• Provide direction, guidance, and mentorship to the visualization team.
• Set goals, assign tasks, and manage workload distribution to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging creativity and professional growth within the team. • Work effectively with teams, build relationships and consult with leadership.
Visual Content Creation:
• Deliver world-class visualization material such as photorealistic digital renderings and compelling animations to support internal and external presentations and other studio deliveries.
• Build 3D data to support content creation.
• Model and develop materials, lighting, and textures for 3D assets and real-time visualizations. • Create and maintain assets for optimizing the content creation and design reviews.
• Run and present data effectively in reviews, utilizing visualization tools. Technical Advancement: • Research and develop new tools, software, and hardware to advance visualization technology.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to visualization and virtual reality.
• Explore and implement the use of Unreal Engine and other relevant software for visualization purposes.
• Investigate new tools, technologies, and software for optimizing visualization workflow.
Support tasks:
• Collaboration and support:
• Provide visual and technical guidance to the design team, ensuring alignment with design objectives and project requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and edit visual content such as images, animations, and virtual reality (VR) experiences.
• Collaborate with Interior, Exterior and CMF teams on studio programs to support their visualization needs.
• Ensure the cross-functional alignment with design, engineers, UX and CMF teams to effectively meet project goals.
Safety Responsibilities:
• Ensure strict adherence to design studio safety regulations and processes.
• Promote a culture of safety and ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the workspace.
Software skills:
• Expert knowledge of VRED and MAYA or equivalent polygonal software.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine and great interest. • Proficiency in Alias or other relevant CAD software.
• Good understanding of HDR Light Studio, AE, PS, and other supporting software or plugins for producing impactful animations and compelling renderings.
Competencies:
• Artistic sensibility and a solid design sense, including an eye for proportion, lighting, and dramatic effect.
• Good understanding of photography and visual storytelling, on crafting compositions that supports the right narrative through visual elements.
• Basic understanding of flowchart-based programming and other programming languages such as python.
• Good understanding of 32-bit workflow for creation of images and animations.
• Strong organizational skills to effectively manage and develop assets, ensuring efficient workflows and asset management.
• Familiarity with Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs), Virtual Reality (VR) solutions, and other emerging visualization technologies.
