The opportunity

An opportunity to join Manulife’s Asia Regulatory Compliance Management team, playing a critical role in working with stakeholders in various levels and functions to identify and mitigate regulatory compliance risk and to identify opportunities and work on various process improvement projects to make decisions easier and faster, and lives better for our customers.

On the job you will:

  • Assist AVP, Head of Asia Regulatory Compliance Management to draft various compliance reports which audience include Senior Management and the Board.

  • Deliver compliance services to operations, ensuring the effective compliance risk management controls and processes are in place to comply with regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures across Asia.

  • Support Compliance Review for business initiatives/projects in the region for Asia Segment Compliance. This entails the identification of relevant compliance risks such as Privacy, AML/ATF, Distribution, Fraud and other regulatory risks such as outsourcing concerns and ensuring that the compliance risks identified are expeditiously managed to support business strategy and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Work with Global Compliance Centre of Excellence (CoE) leads and their delegates to carry out best practice and provide two way feedbacks to continuous enhance processes and procedures

  • With the CoE leads to carry out change management programs to ensure buy ins and fast adoptions of new systems/ procedures

  • Assist AVP, Head of Asia Regulatory Compliance Management provide policy interpretation advice to Asia Operations and other Records Management second line responsibilities in accordance with the Global Records Management Standards.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Journalism, Communications, Political Science or related fields preferred

  • Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communications skills are a must. Able to understand complicated issues and summarize and articulate in simple, succinct, easily digestible English that can be consumed by Senior Management.

  • Extreme attention to details and ability to “connect the dots”: Able to read between the lines, ask tough questions and spot issues and trends out of pieces on information and a series of events. Able to understand what data points needed to validate a theory or trend, in order to make data driven decisions.

  • Process Management/Improvement: Can identify and articulate the processes and improvement opportunities to accomplish a goal effectively and efficiently. Strong experience in navigating across functions/initiatives and sets of stakeholders.

  • Growth Mindset: embrace challenges and open to new opportunities and not afraid to implement new ideas.

  • Strong Operational Experience: Prior experience in financial services and/or insurance industries.

  • Nice to have: Experience within a risk and control function, experience in a business consulting environment or project management in insurance or financial services fields.

  • Nice to have: Agile and Human Centre Design experience and expertise, to help shape a new way of working.
