Oracle Senior Database Engineer in Romania

Job Description

The Customer Success Services (CSS), Advanced Service Engineering organization consists of a diverse, highly skilled, and specialized team Advanced Services Engineers (ASE) who bring deep technical expertise in the entire Oracle Product and technology set. As integral part of a global Organization, the ASE will be working within an international environment and contribute to global technology driven initiatives or innovation programs for continuous service improvements. Regular training is available and required to maintain an up to date knowledge of latest developments of Oracle products and services.

For this position, we look for an experienced, talented and self-motivated Advanced Services Engineers to work with customers across the world. Fluency in languages other than English is an advantage.

Working as a Database Specialist this position is part of the CSS Expertise Center Delivery organization. The role is focused on Database support for Oracle Database product running on various platforms, Oracle or non-Oracle, including Oracle Engineered Systems Platforms but also in SPARC platforms, and on Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or Cloud at Customer (ExaCC) deployments.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do - Be the vital piece of the puzzle that connects us to the millions of businesses that need our help to evolve.

Proactive support

  • Proactively working with CSS customers to ensure their successful deployment of the Oracle Infrastructure Platform.

  • Technical assistance with software installation

  • System configuration health checks and Performance tuning assessments

  • Upgrade and implementation planning and advice on Patch Management

  • Researching and responding to technical inquiries.

Reactive support

  • Delivery of reactive remote or onsite technical support in a timely manner

  • Resolve high level, complex or previously unknown issues, requiring expert technical knowledge

  • Perform root cause analysis of difficult product problems and their solutions/technical escalation management

  • Interact with key customer personnel to enhance collaborative problem solving

  • Providing and verifying problem workarounds or patches

What You’ll Bring Your enthusiasm, knowledge, and customer-centricity. We also look for any of the following:

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Database, Real Application Clusters (RAC), Enterprise Manager OEM

  • Hands-on experience with the Oracle Platform Infrastructure Products: Systems (T-series), Oracle Linux, Solaris, Oracle Solaris Cluster, Oracle Secure Backup (OSB), ZFS Storage appliance

  • Systems Administration Unix skills are essential, additional Linux/Windows skills are useful

Will add a plus to have solid knowledge and experience on the following topics:

  • Experience in working with Oracle Database and Infrastructure products, in particular Oracle Engineered Systems including Exadata, Oracle Database Appliance (ODA), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCS and ExaCC) or comparable platforms is a plus

  • Hands-on experience in installation, configuration, operation and administration for one or more Oracle Cloud / Platform and Infrastructure products, preferably Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata, ODA, BDA), Oracle Private Appliance (PCA), or cloud deployments with Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCS and ExaCC) or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

  • Networking products and technologies: Network switches, Networks protocols, Network Security (firewalls), load balancers. Cisco CCNA and or similar certifications

  • Backup and Recovery projects. RMAN,. ZDLRA (Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance) and Oracle ASM (Automatic Storage Management)

  • Knowledge and experience is associated storage options, ZFS Storage appliance, ZFS Storage-Pool
