Microsoft Corporation APAC Construction Lead in Singapore

Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our data center construction team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality data centers for our cloud services. As we continue to revolutionize the way construction projects are planned, managed, and executed, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Manager to join our diverse and inclusive team. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the high standard and reliability of our product.  

As part of the regional EPC SWAT team, the key responsibilities are to work cross functionally with other SWAT team members to provide oversight on the consistent implementation of the project SLA and functional governance, perform project health analysis against the approved SLAs/scope/execution plan/cost/schedule, assist with the project setup, evaluate the site resource effectiveness, conduct spot audits, assist with onboarding and training of the site-based team. Team will be dedicated to this scope and will not be assigned to specific projects or other functional/regional activities. The project reviews and assessment will be as per the SWAT team roadmap and/or managed by exception should a critical priority is raised within the region. Team will be based in hub location and will travel together to the site as per the roadmap and business critical priorities. Travel requirements: 50-75%.

As a Construction Lead on the Data Center Delivery SWAT Team, you will be an experienced Construction manager with well-rounded experience of delivering projects. Your focus will be Construction management while upholding the company values of safety, quality, schedule, contractual obligations and cost in challenging project environments.

This role is located in Singapore.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

Business Processes:  

  • Reports to the CO+I Regional Construction Lead with reporting structure to a SWAT Team Lead 

  • This position requires a senior level of understanding of Safety, Datacenter Commissioning, Project Management, Telecommunications, and Mission Critical Operations. 

  • Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions. 

  • Development of Constructionreports to best understand and communicate project status. 

  • Development of financial reports to best understand and communicate project status. 

  • Travel required.  

Accountability: 

  • Travel to projects to ensure consistent operations and efficiencies across the region, including project setup, onboarding, training, audit, assessing resource effectiveness, and conducting project health checks. 

  • Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule of the Constructionprocess for CO+I projects. 

  • Reporting of theConstructionprocess to management on a regular basis. 

  • Responsible for being able to effectively evaluate project status and develop timely and cost-effective solutions for safe delivery within budget, quality and schedule. 

  • Collaboratively driving solutions to impact successful delivery of projects under challenging conditions. 

  • Work independently in support of the CO+I Program. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility in development of Data Center project construction with large-scale data centers or data center lease providers. 

  • Degrees and/or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.  

Required E xperience/Skills/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Construction Project Management, or Construction Management. 

  • 10+ yrs. exp. of data center project construction with large-scale data centers or DC lease providers.  

  • Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects. 

  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff.  

  • Ability to influence cross-discipline teams. 

  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Project Management, or Construction Management.

  • Degrees and/or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to build teams / manage large budgets / work effectively across teams / effectively manage schedules / equipment coordination and delivery and turnover processes.

  • Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects.

  • Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff. Ability to influence cross-discipline teams. Construction Health & Safety Knowledge.
