Purpose

The Administrative Coordinator I works under general supervision and provides administrative support for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering to include the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support for Department Head and Administrator II.

  • Manages calendar and travel arrangements for Department Head and Administrator II.

  • Assures confidentiality of the Department Head's mail, correspondence, and reports.

  • Participates in the planning and execution of administrative operations.

  • Monitors office procedures, and makes recommendations for processes improvements, administrative changes, or new initiatives.

  • Develops, evaluates, and ensures adherence to office procedures.

  • Reviews and signs documents for Department Head and Administrator II. Compose letters, memos and other correspondence for Department Head and Administrator II as requested. May attend meetings or committees on behalf of Department Head and Administrator II.

  • Monitors timelines and identifies issues.

  • Provide administrative support with faculty searches, which includes preparing approval requests, placing position advertisements, managing Interfolio applications, arranging travel and interview schedules for prospective faculty, distinguished lecturers, development guests, etc.

  • Assist with faculty meetings including call for agenda items and minutes.

  • May supervise, train, and evaluate the work of departmental student workers.

What we need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Planning and organization skills.
