Class Summary

Job Description

This position is assigned to the Gwinnett County Police GCIC Unit and performs a variety of supervisory duties in support of the GCIC/NCIC Unit operations. This role ensures department employees adhere to Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) policies that pertain to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) network operations. This includes providing training, initial certification, recertification and reviewing work performed for policy conformance. Incumbents supervise staff, handle complex customer complaints, maintains supplies and equipment, and oversees GCIC/NCIC entries for correctness. This position serves as the agency Secondary Terminal Access Coordinator (TAC) and requires a high degree of confidentiality.

Essential Duties

  • Serves as the Agency's secondary Terminal Agency Coordinator (secondary TAC)

  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; shift scheduling; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations

  • Serves as a lead to staff including assigning and monitoring work and providing direction.

  • Reviews and research complex customer service issues related to GCIC/NCIC

  • Initiate and process payroll and personnel action changes. Maintains personnel files

  • Maintains level of supplies and orders equipment as needed

  • Completes special projects as assigned by the manager

  • Oversees and validates GCIC/NCIC entries and ensure they are properly entered, modified, cleared, and canceled

  • Oversees the field training program for lower-level staff on certifications, software programs, procedures, and concepts related to GCIC/NCIC functions

  • Serves as a liaison to other departments and agencies, including GCIC and requires a high degree of confidentiality

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.

  • This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background is required to include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.

  • This job requires on-call rotation and after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

Grade

The grade for this position is B23(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and up to one year of specialized or technical training in administrative support or related field and

  • Four years of administrative support or related office experience or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications

  • Four or more years of administrative support or related office experience

  • Full TAC certification within 6 months

  • CJIS Network Operator certification within 90 days

  • Field Training Officer Program certification within 12 months
