Job Information:

Virtua Medical Group is looking for an experienced certified nurse midwife to join our Midwifery practice. The primary focus of the midwife is to support women through prenatal care and the delivery process for all expecting mothers.

Summary: Midwives provide advice, care and support for women and their babies during pregnancy, labor and the early postnatal period.They help women make their own decisions about the care and services they access/receive.They care for newborn children and women, providing health education and parenting support immediately after delivery.Diagnose and coordinate all aspects of the birthing process, either independently or as part of a healthcare team.Midwives are personally responsible for the health of both mother and child and only refer to obstetricians if there are medical complications.Work autonomously while collaboration with a physician/specialist. Position Responsibilities: • Provide routine gynecological services including reproductive health visits, regular gynecological visits (annual) and peri-/post-menopausal care.• Diagnosing, monitoring and examining women during pregnancy.• Developing, assessing and evaluating individual programs of care.• Provides counseling and advice before and after screening and tests.• Providing full antenatal care, including screening tests in the hospital, community and the home.• Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patient, family, staff, and healthcare learners.• Perform approved therapeutic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status.• Offer support and advice following events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, neonatal abnormality and neonatal death when applicable.• Supervising mothers in labor, monitoring the condition of the fetus and handling all aspects of the birthing process.• Formulate and implement prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and inter-conceptional care as defined by the nurse midwifery service.• Collaborate with physician and nursing colleagues and document in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries.• Utilize prescriptive privileges Uses knowledge of drugs and pain management when necessary.• Arranging and providing parenting and health education.• Giving support and advice on the daily care of the baby, including breastfeeding, bathing and making up feeds. Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

2 years of experience or more as a Certified Nurse Midwife required

Fluency in Spanish preferred
