Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Laboratory Classification Analyst in United States

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Classification Analyst to work in our Information Security department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Willow Creek facility with every other Friday off.

An INL Classification Analyst (CA)is responsible for utilizingengineering theory and principles in the development, interpretation, and administration of approved Department of Energy (DOE) Classification and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) programs. Participate in applicable Information Security Department programs and working groups.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide technical analysis in the administrationDOEclassification, unclassified nuclear information (UCNI), and controlled unclassified information (CUI).

  • Provide basic analysis in the development and interpretation of local classification and controlled information guidance.

  • Conduct classification and declassification reviews for INL,DOEOperations Office (DOE-ID), and Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) classified materials. • Apply appropriate/applicableDOEclassificationprinciples and conceptsto ensure that reports, press releases, publications, scientific papers, journal articles, etc., containing potentially classified subject areas are reviewed for classified and sensitive information and applicable matter isproperlyprotectedprior topublic release.

  • Assist inthe training, and certification of INL derivative classifiers (DCs) and UCNI Reviewing Officials (UCNI-ROs).

  • Provideguidance and adviceon classification and sensitive information matters to INL DCs and UCNI-ROs.

  • Provide classification, classified matter protection and control (CMPC), sensitive information, technical guidance, direction, education, and trainingto applicable INL employees, subcontractors,DOE-ID, and ICP, showing eagerness to address potential issues, and take on new challenges

  • Supportsand communicated with the Information Security Department with applicable programmatic self-assessmentsin accordance withthe requirements of the Safeguards and Security Performance Assurance Program and applicableDOEOrders.

  • Serveswithin the Classification Office on the CMPC Committee to develop/maintain policies, plans, procedures and to educate and train employees in document marking, accountability, transmission, reproduction, destruction.

  • Assistsin thecoordination, direction, interpretation of regulations, preparation of implementing company procedures, compliance verification, and applicable document reviews/updates for Information Security Programs (i.e. Classification, UCNI, OUO, CMPC, OPSEC).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in a scientific or technical field with 5-8 years’ experience or Master of Science in a scientific or technical field with 3-6 years’ experience or Doctorate with 2-4 years’ relevant experience

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background/knowledge in DOE classification directives, guides, and bulletins

  • Background in at least one of the following Classified Subject Areas:

    o Nuclear Nonproliferation, Arms Control and Foreign Policy

    o Chemical and Biological Weapons

    o Intelligence and Counterintelligence

    o Isotope Enrichment Technology

    o Nuclear Weapons• Radiological Emergency Response

    o Safeguards and Security• Nuclear Material Production and Processing

    o Other Government Agencies (OGA) including Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program

  • Salary Grade: PR0300: 210 ($95,928 - $158,232) / Salary Grade PR0400: 220 ($110,316 - $181,956)
