SUMMARY:

The Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life, under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, plans, coordinates, develops, and executes policies, procedures, and practices relating to the comprehensive scope of Fraternity and Sorority life. Additionally, the coordinator advises one or more of the following councils, including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Panhellenic Council (CPC), and Order of Omega. These experiences enhance learning, involvement in campus life, leadership development, and success outside the classroom.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates with Assistant Director daily operations of Fraternity and Sorority Life

  • Advise one or more assigned FSL student governing councils, including the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Panhellenic Council (CPC), and Order of Omega

  • Facilitate meetings and trainings with fraternity and sorority chapter leaders as assigned

  • Maintains statistics, rosters, and Fraternity/Sorority records.

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life office-related webpages, social media accounts

  • Participates in departmental teams for leadership development and student group advisement.

  • Assist in implementation and evaluation of student leadership opportunities within Fraternity and Sorority life

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: One or more years of experience in student affairs work or related specialty with a bachelor's degree. No experience required with a master's degree

  • Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills:

  • Professional work experience (typically one year or more) in higher education in advising, developing, coordinating, and evaluating student life programs; preferably fraternity and sorority life programs.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of national Fraternity/Sorority organizations and advising skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong event management skills.

  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior membership in a Greek affiliated organization

  • Experience with formal recruitment and intake process

  • Experience facilitating programs, workshops, retreats, and/or training programs for students in a higher education setting.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

  • Student workers, graduate assistants and student council presidents
