Responsibilities You will direct/deploy firefighting operational processes, equipment, and duties during emergency and non-emergency situations. You will perform hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis. You will select and apply the proper techniques or procedures for fire suppression and emergency situations You will initiate established medical protocols in providing basic life support. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade; 2)Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Controlling hazardous materials incidents; 5) Driving and operating firefighting vehicles; and 6) Performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. This position requires the incumbent to possess certifications GS-07: This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I & II, HAZMAT Operations, Apparatus Driver Operator-Pumper, Apparatus Driver Operator Aerial, CPR, and Nationally Registered EMT-Basic. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Several vacancies may be filled. Position is a 144-hour bi-weekly tour of duty. As such, all operationally based 0081 series employees shall participate in a Wellness and Fitness Program established by their Fire Department, in order to maintain a level of health and fitness necessary for performing their job functions.
