Foundation Relationship Manager
Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly professional Foundation Relationship Manager to join us in our Scottsdale, AZ or Lansdowne, VA office. As the Foundation Relationship Manager, you are vital to the Development Team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Foundation Partnerships and be responsible for cultivating and maintaining foundation and ministry friend relationships. You will also be responsible for growing ADF’s foundation donor portfolio and performing prospecting research to seek grant opportunities.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
Perform Prospect Research and Seek Grant Opportunities.
Research and engage with prospective foundations to explore grant opportunities to grow ADF’s foundation donor portfolio strategically
Coordinate prospect portfolio growth projects and review grant materials and submissions
Present to Foundations Representatives and/or Boards for the prospect discovery calls
Compile necessary information for letters of intent and grant applications through collaboration with other team members, database research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings
Submit letters of intent, grant applications, and materials according to foundation requirements and ensure deadlines are met
Complete all documentation (forms, reports, agreements, etc.) required for each grant opportunity
Carrying out the long-term foundation prospecting strategy developed by the leadership and maintaining master files on grant opportunities and paperwork
Provide monthly foundation prospect metrics reports to ADF Development Leadership
Send detailed Foundations Research Report to internal stakeholders
Cultivate and Maintain Foundation Relationships.
Cultivate and manage a portfolio of grant-making foundations to increase knowledge and affinity with ADF, grow annual giving, and engage in strategic opportunities
Collaborate with Directors of Transformational Partnerships to strategically grow ADF’s foundation grant revenue in partnership by ensuring optimal strategy, responsiveness, and missional connection
With guidance from the Director of Foundation Partnerships, coordinate and lead stakeholder meetings with foundations and key leadership/attorneys for relationships on individual portfolios
Attend strategic Ministry Friends visits to cultivate and grow relational engagement
Collaborate with DTPs to conduct research on shared relationships and ensure that all foundation processes and guidelines are met in the foundation grant process
Ensure foundation conditions and requirements are acknowledged and met according to grant guidelines
Demonstrate relational excellence with various constituents and internal teams, including Ministry Friends at all levels, prospective Ministry Friends, and foundation representatives
Prepare monthly Grant Summary Report and Planned Revenue Report & Metrics
Maintain grant tracking systems with up-to-date information on foundation prospects and relationships
Work closely with the Director of Foundation Partnerships to define annual goals, metrics, and division processes
Other Responsibilities (Non-Essential):
Perform other related duties as assigned
Attend or assist with ADF events where appropriate
Skills you need to succeed:
Knowledge of:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook

Ability to:
Travel approximately a minimum of 20 nights a year
Self-start and meet deadlines without supervision
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, such as employee salaries or upcoming projects, that may be needed for some grants
Promote and inspire foundation giving through letters, emails, and phone calls through strong interpersonal communication skills and charismatic or otherwise inspirational delivery
Work, motivate, and initiate within a team and independently
Be empathetic towards all those you are in contact with
Education and/or experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
3-5 years of grant fundraising experience is preferred
