Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus. This position is exempt from the State Human Resources Act ( EHRA ).
Western Carolina University is recruiting for a primary point of contact for the onboarding of student and temporary employees. This position will include the following responsibilities:
Processing a large volume of hiring proposal actions for students that includes vetting proposals for accuracy, verifying eligibility, contacting students to set up intakes, managing the I-9 process and submitting for payroll.
Onboarding – overseeing the online portal, and the student employment checklist.
Compliance – ensure all policies and regulations are followed and critical deadlines are met.
Auditing of human resource actions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Review and revision of student employment forms, policies, procedures and handbooks, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship from the employer.
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with in human resources. Knowledge of North Carolina employment system helpful. HR certification.
