Western Carolina University HR Consultant II - Student Employment - #000197 in United States

Position Summary:

The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus. This position is exempt from the State Human Resources Act ( EHRA ).

Western Carolina University is recruiting for a primary point of contact for the onboarding of student and temporary employees. This position will include the following responsibilities:

  • Processing a large volume of hiring proposal actions for students that includes vetting proposals for accuracy, verifying eligibility, contacting students to set up intakes, managing the I-9 process and submitting for payroll.

  • Onboarding – overseeing the online portal, and the student employment checklist.

  • Compliance – ensure all policies and regulations are followed and critical deadlines are met.

  • Auditing of human resource actions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Review and revision of student employment forms, policies, procedures and handbooks, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship from the employer.

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with in human resources. Knowledge of North Carolina employment system helpful. HR certification.
