Indian Health Service Integrated Behavioral Health Specialist in United States

Summary This position serves as a licensed Integrated Behavioral Health Specialist who provides clinical behavioral health services in the Behavioral Health Clinic and in the Primary Care Clinic in an outpatient behavioral health setting. The incumbent will work closely with primary care physicians, medical clinic support staff and preventive program services. The position reports to the Behavioral Health Supervisor. Responsibilities Oversee Behavioral Health Integration activities, policy development and training. Serves as a subject matter expert for integrated behavioral health and provides administrative oversight of daily services provided in the medical clinic setting. Provides assessment, diagnosis, and health services using a broad range of assessment and therapeutic resources. Participates in developing treatment plans for patients and advises and consults with all levels of professional staff. Provides individual, group, and family counseling sessions for patients. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social science equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. Examples include: providing diagnostic, treatment, referral, crisis intervention and consultation services for patients with behavioral health needs. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: providing a full range of professional mental health services to patients of all ages in a clinical setting that includes evaluation, diagnosis, counseling, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, referral and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. OR Completion of 3 years of graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. degree or a Ph.D. that is directly related to the work of the position. OR A combination of education and experience in one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Responsible for cases that represent a wide range of biopsychosocial problems with no limitations as to the difficulty of services to be performed; assist patients and families in identifying and finding solutions to social and emotional problems related to health and mental health care; assess treatment goals, interpret case histories, develop measurable and obtainable individualized treatment plans, and provides independent decisions, advocacy and recommendations for patients continuity in care; prepares reports regarding caseload for evaluation of program and prepares summary of services rendered. Selective Placement Factor: You must have an active and current license in one of the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Behavioral Practitioner (LBP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) or Licensed Psychologist. Must submit copy of license that includes an expiration date. Applications will be considered incomplete without proof. Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required. This position has promotion potential to the GS-12 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval.
