GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Pioneer Home is seeking a qualified, enthusiastic individual to fill the Food Services Assistant position. This position aims to participate in food preparation to provide meals that meet the resident's nutritional needs and preferences. There are no supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. The Wyoming Pioneer Home is an assisted living facility located in Thermopolis, WY, in close proximity to Hot Springs State Park, with many activities available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Performs a variety of routine tasks and food preparation activities in the operation of the food service department.

  • Follows recipes and assists with meal preparation

  • Serves clients and staff coming through the serving line.

  • Monitors temperatures to ensure food and beverages are stored properly.

  • Cleans and sanitizes the kitchen and dining area.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to individuals with experience working in food services in a large institution, commercial food service facility, or school.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of kitchens and warehouses.

  • Knowledge of food service equipment operation.

  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations and universal precautions.

  • Knowledge of inventory tracking.

  • Knowledge of the Department of Agriculture's requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services)

None

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical ability to lift, twist, bend, and push up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must be able to handle all types of food groups including, but not limited to, poultry, meat, fish, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, spices, and seasonings.

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • Annual influenza immunization is required.

  • A background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, the Wyoming Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
