U.S. Secret Service Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor) (Reemployed Annuitant and ICTAP) in United States

Summary The U.S. Secret Service is seeking retired Federal employees who retired under the CSRS or FERS retirement system and to ICTAP eligibles to support our integrated mission and immediately impart your knowledge and experience to our current workforce. This position supports the Office of Training, James J. Rowley Training Center, by serving as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor) in a major program area that supports the U.S. Secret Service and the protective and investigative mission sets. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as a Law Enforcement Specialist (Instructor) (Reemployed Annuitant and ICTAP) in the Office of Training, James J Rowley Training Center. Typical work assignments include: Designing, developing, and executing instructional materials intended for practical application such as; lesson plans, support materials, practical exercises development, and use of training areas. Using a variety of advance instructional methods (e.g., seminars, multimedia instructions, and demonstration) to instruct students in basic to advance techniques in a law enforcement specialty area. Participating in planning, analysis, and decision-making processes for overall objectives, milestones, priorities and administrative framework. Instructing criminal investigators in basic to advanced techniques involving areas of law enforcement that are complex, constantly changing and controversial. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and to random drug testing while you occupy the position DUAL COMP AUTHORITY - Selectees hired with the OPM Dual Comp Authority will be offered a non-status, 4-year term appointment in the competitive service and will be eligible to: Earn full annuity and full Federal salary. Earn annual and sick leave (not applicable for an intermittent work schedule) Full-times, part-time, or intermittent work schedules available. Receive overtime (on a full schedule). NOTE: New appointments can be made until December 31, 2024, and can continue until their appointment not-to-exceed date has been reached. Appointments that continue past December 31, 2024, may be subjected to their salary being off-set (reduced) if the OPM dual compensation salary off-set waiver is not renewed. Qualifications You qualify for the GS-12 level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: Providing technical and analytical training to students that instills proficiency in law enforcement specialties; and Observing, evaluating, guiding, and mentoring criminal investigators in their progress relative to law enforcement training objectives; and Developing course content, lesson plans, and initiating changes in instructional methods for law enforcement courses. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Preferred Experience/Certification: Instructor positions in the areas of Control Tactics, Firearms and Physical Skills prefer experience in the fields of Strength and Conditioning; Nutrition, and/or Sports Medicine; Experience as an instructor in defensive measures/control tactics; and/or Experience as a Firearms Instructor for a local, state, or federal agency. NOTE: Preferred experience is not a requirement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
