The Postdoctoral Research Associate, will conduct research that contributes to advancing 3D computer vision, generative AI, and the robotics field. We're seeking someone with a passion for developing new algorithms, mathematical formulations, machine learning models, and robust systems that will help enhance the scene representation, understanding, and manipulation of three-dimensional environments by robotic systems. Working in The School of Performance, Visualization and Fine Arts (PVFA), you will focus on publishing and presenting the research findings in top-tier peer-reviewed computer vision, robotics, and machine learning conferences and journal; in addition, contributing to research projects while managing/maintaining laboratory resources/equipment. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.
Position Details: Initial contract will be a year, with possibility of extension depending on progress. This position may be required to travel internationally.

Essential Duties/Tasks
Research - Conduct research detailed above and assist in developing project proposals. Perform rigorous data analysis and conduct experiments to validate hypotheses, formulations, and models. Develop, collect, process, and analyze 3D imaging data. Manage and maintain laboratory resources and equipment. Collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty. Plan, manage, and monitor research project timelines.
Publishing/presenting and Mentorship - Actively contributes to research paper publications at top-tier peer-reviewed computer vision, machine learning, and robotics conferences and journals. Presents at reputed national and/or international venues. Participates in all aspects of paper review. Prepares presentation materials. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors. Serve as a mentor to students at the bachelor, master, or Ph.D in the context of collaborative research efforts and may perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computing, or Engineering in topics related to artificial intelligence, or a related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to present at conferences.
Knowledge of developing and applying modern deep learning architecture
Knowledge of computer vision algorithms in at least two of the following: Python, C/C++, or MATLAB
Demonstration of programming proficiency using the following software packages: OpenCV, Open3D, ROS, PyTorch/Keras/Tensor Flow, and related data science packages.
Knowledge about ethical guidelines to AI and related topics and ability to maintain a high commitment to lab excellence and ethical standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Exemplary background in computer programming languages.
Excellent academic grades in the following subjects – computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, robotics, mathematical optimization, linear algebra.
Publication and open-source code profile related to topics.
Track record of producing high-quality, peer-reviewed computer scientific publications (i.e. – CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICLR, ICRA/RAL, TPAMI)
Experience mentoring students at the bachelor, master, or PhD level.
