First Databank (FDB) is looking for an experienced Product Manager to develop and grow our highly successful medication content and software products. As Product Manager, you will be joining a company that is privileged to work with a large and continuously growing customer base—record growth every year—and is driven by our mission to improve medication outcomes and health more broadly. We are looking for someone with 5+ years of software product management experience to champion the development and commercialization of products aimed at healthcare developers and users. The Product Manager will guide an interdisciplinary team that is charged with a product line contribution. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products. The right candidate must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. This individual will work with clinical and engineering counterparts to define product release requirements, and work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. This role will serve as the internal and external evangelist for their products, working with the sales channel and key customers. This position will assume accountability for product profitability and will guide product analysts when appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of assigned product lines including market and customer research, market analysis, and competitive analysis.

  • Understand customer problems and works with colleagues and customers to find innovative solutions for the broader market.

  • Works with Sales, Marketing, and other Product Managers to define the go-to market strategy, helping them to understand the product value proposition, position, value key benefits, and the target customer profile.

    Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the achievement of product line business goals and objectives, including increasing product line volumes and revenue.

  • Determine which activities will produce the most business value and which features of a product are most important.

  • Responsible to obtain and prioritize product and customer requirements and assist the team in defining the product vision.

  • Build products from existing ideas, and help to develop and implement new ideas based on a variety of factors including market research, industry experience, and contact with customers and prospects.

  • Manage the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.

  • Coordinates project planning and organization; facilitates group effectiveness, motivation, and encouragement.

    Required Skills

  • 5 + years of product management experience for commercially successful healthcare software products

  • Critical thinking skills to identify the strengths and weaknesses of approaches to problems and potential solutions.

  • Strong analytical and writing skills.

  • An understanding of the healthcare industry and the needs of users of healthcare information systems in a hospital or clinical setting as well as payer and other settings. Healthcare payer experience or knowledge a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues across different disciplines and locations to achieve results.

  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical personnel with exceptional communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to customers and other outside audiences.

    Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

  • 5+ years of product management experience for commercially successful healthcare software products

  • Bachelors in Informatics, Clinical Degree, or Masters in related field a plus

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in San Francisco, CA. The reasonable estimate, $136,000-$185,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in location. If this role is open to candidates outside of location, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
