Senior Field Applications Engineer / Lab Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team, primarily focusing on DC-DC power lab engineering functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing lab operations, conducting advanced testing and analysis, and supporting the development and verification of customer boards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers, utilizing your analog and power expertise to identify design opportunities, promote Renesas products, demonstrate technology, overcome customer obstacles, and advance opportunities to design wins.

  • Provide real-time support in both reactive and proactive modes for key customers

  • Support customers on-site during system-related bring-up or troubleshooting of Renesas products-related issues that include reworking including soldering.

  • Conduct schematic/layout reviews on-site with customers.

  • Quickly troubleshoot power circuits, assist with external component selection and board layout, lead technical discussions, and present technical features and benefits of Renesas products.

  • Achieve assigned design win and revenue goals for Renesas products.

  • Provide guidance on the value and strategic fit of the assigned product family, working with account teams to establish sales goals and strategy.

  • Deliver competitive updates to the field and contribute to the development of strategic plans.

  • Establish dialogue with marketing and management teams of the assigned product lines, updating them on progress and market dynamics.

  • Prepare, debug, and conduct verification tests on our solutions using customer boards in the lab.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a lab engineering role, focusing on DC-DC power conversion.

  • Proven experience in managing lab operations and conducting advanced testing and analysis.

  • Expertise in DC-DC converter design, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Proven experience in power electronics, preferably with digital multi-phase controller systems. (plus)

  • Proficient in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, power analyzers, and thermal cameras.

  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice) and PCB design software (e.g., Altium).

  • Prior experience with voltage regulators, buck converters, and MOSFET drivers is a plus.

  • Safety-conscious mindset when working with high-power circuits.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis software.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • On-site role 100%
