Senior SaaS Engineer

Purpose:

The Senior SaaS Engineer, Cold Chain will serve as both the domain and technical expert within the Cold Chain SaaS & Services team. Their key focus will be driving maximum Customer value and satisfaction through use of our SaaS solutions across all verticals. The secondary focus will be maximizing the technical capabilities and solution offerings available to the Cold Chain delivery teams. This will be done through regular engagement with those delivery teams to identify current tool gaps, emerging Customer requests, and competitive challenges. These will then be addressed with a “current tools first” approach, maximizing both speed and leverage of existing investment. Optimally, this would be enabled by prototyping technical solutions directly within the Enterprise Services team. The third focus will be to act as the Enterprise Services team’s technical liaison with Product Management, influencing both priority and efficacy of solutions under development. It will be critical for this position to collaborate closely with product management, product development/engineering, I.T., solutions, sales, and our Customers in support of driving Cold Chain SaaS capability and revenue growth. This position will help the Enterprise Services team influence and drive SaaS development priorities, including next generation platforms, and ensure our technical ability to deliver SLA and insights.

POSITION SUMMARY AND KEY DELIVERABLES

  1. Maximize Customer SaaS Value
  • Support complex program rollouts and advanced feature configuration.

  • Identify existing, beneficial features Customer is not currently using and drive adoption.

  • Collaborate with Customer on new use cases for existing features.

  • Support complex issues with the Customer’s SaaS platform and connected devices.

  • Demonstrate opportunities to delivery, sales, and solutions for ongoing support.

  1. Support of Cold Chain Delivery Teams
  • Provide Technical and Domain SME support.

  • Establish clear understanding of customer problems and how to technically address.

  • Facilitate the development of internal tools focused on solving customer needs and automating or simplifying onboarding/administrative effort.

  • Influence development priority to align with identified internal and Customer needs.

  • Solicit input from internal stakeholders in Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Support

  • Develop acceptance criteria and testing procedures for new products or features.

  • Identify gaps in standard SaaS application monitoring and present to Product.

  • Support increase in Tier1 and Tier2 support capabilities to improve first contact resolution.

  1. Proof of Concept/Solution Prototyping
  • Work with Delivery teams to prototype new solutions for internal/external needs.

  • Once proven, either implement using existing toolset or submit feature to Product team

  1. Technology Assessment
  • Drive inclusion of core requirements in next generation platforms

  • Stay updated on industry trends regarding technology choice, new technologies, and potential security issues related with different technological approaches.

  • Provide customer user experience feedback, opportunities for product enhancements, and new product ideas to Product Management & Development teams.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  • Requires 10+ years of relevant experience in enterprise software development.

  • 10+ years of experience in M2M, IoT, and API device-to-software communications

  • 10+ years of deep Cold Chain solutions and market expertise (Domain SME)

  • Demonstrated ability to support both Internal and Customer teams with solution discovery and definition, maximizing leverage of existing toolset to deliver new value.

  • Demonstrated ability to support New Product Development (both Software and Device)

  • Technical background with experience in Enterprise Applications, Device Protocol and Communications, Cloud, Mobile, and emerging AI

  • Working knowledge of systems integration and product data support

  • Capable of communicating in verbal, written and presentation forms

  • Ability to functionally prototype emerging solutions, with existing tools where able.

  • Proven ability to support multiple projects and associated deliverables simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated collaborator who enables and encourages teamwork across different functional departments and across business units.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  • Mature, professional demeanor and proven ability to work well in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment, including Customer-Facing

SUCCESS CRITERIA

  • Technical performance and capabilities of Cold Chain delivery team(s)

  • Prioritization of Product Management/Development efforts aligned to both Customer needs and internal tool gaps.

  • Develop and deliver technical solutions using existing toolset on >75% of engagements.

  • Quickly prototype new solutions without need of engineering support.

  • Maintain existing customer relationships & drive increased customer value through improved use of/satisfaction with Cold Chain SaaS solutions.
