GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a Social Services Aide with the Department of Family Services (DFS), you will play a pivotal role in assisting professional social services workers, and the staff of a public social services agency in daily case management.

This is a 30-hour-per-week position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Sets up and supervises parental visits with children and families.

  • Gives testimony in court regarding the observation of clients and families.

  • Assists with Administrative Duties such as file management, data entry, and case narrative entry.

  • Provides in-home checks and services.

  • Monitors urinalysis, school grades, and attendance.

  • Fully document all contact with clients and children.

  • Confers with the Social Services Workers regarding client progress and case plans.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference may be given to applicants with experience helping families in need to become stronger and more self-sufficient.

**Agency requires that the successful applicant possess a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of parenting.

  • Knowledge of policies regarding child protection and benefits.

  • Knowledge of the community or institution to be served.

  • Knowledge of client data collection.

  • Knowledge of word processing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs)

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Social Services Programs)

None

Necessary Special Requirements

NOTES:

  • FLSA: Non-exempt

  • This is a 30-hour-per-week position.

  • All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
