U.S. Census Bureau Supervisory Administrative Specialist in United States

Summary This vacancy is for a Supervisory Administrative Specialist position in the U.S. Census Bureau, Field Division's Regional Offices. One position is available at each of the six Regional Office locations. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Supervisory Administrative Specialist, 0301-13, FPL GS-13 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Responsibilities Provides leadership and overall direction for development and improvement of administrative and operational aspects of the Regional Office Provides analytical, planning, and evaluative reports on internal activities or functions such as human resources, fiscal management, travel, space administration, etc Supervises a subordinate staff of 5-12 employees performing personnel, time and attendance, and general administrative support work. Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal services. Experience with leading, directing, coordinating, developing, improving, and managing all administrative activities for the region including the supervision of cost and progress reporting system, coordinating, personnel management activities; time and attendance reporting; overseeing personal property management, and other administrative applications to procure supplies, equipment, and services. Monitor and maintain safety reports and inquiries; mail services; records and files maintenance; travel; space management; and other administrative services necessary to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the technical administrative operations of the Regional Office. Experience supervising and leading a team of office staff members that supports a large, decentralized field staff. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
