HarperCollins Publishers Telesales/Inside Sales Representative in United States

Are you passionate about books and connecting books with readers? HarperCollins has an exciting opportunity for a Telesales/Inside Sales Representative to join our Independent Retail Sales Team!

The Telesales/Inside Sales Rep will lead the day-to-day relationships with the independent bookstores in their assigned territory. With a focus on HarperCollins BIPOC Independent Bookselling partners working to increase sales to BIPOC-owned bookstores and grow the overall sales of books by BIPOC authors across all accounts.This rolewill sell all frontlist and backlist titles across our complete HarperCollins Adult and Children’s lists.

The telesales/inside sales rep is responsible for maximizing sales for frontlist and backlist titles through analysis and using independent judgment to make recommendations to their accounts based on knowledge of their customers and our titles. This position is our indie accounts’ primary point of contact for all things HarperCollins, and will forge relationships based on trust, open and timely communication, and a strong knowledge of our lists and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, Maintain and Manage the day-to-day relationship with the independentbookstores in the assigned territory.

  • Collaborate with Retail Marketing and sales colleagues to develop promotional opportunities, identify marketplace priorities, and maximize distribution of our BIPOC catalog.

  • Helps to establish relationships with new and expanding accounts.

  • Sells frontlist and backlist titles to independent bookstores in the assigned territory.

  • Assists in cooperative advertising and advocates for accounts internally for author appearances, promotions and more.

  • Regularly informs Sales Leadership, Director of Field Sales, Adult,Sales Manager,and sales colleagues on what is working in assigned accounts.

  • Collaborates with Retail Marketing on account-specific promotional and marketing plans to support publisher programs and priority titles.

  • Attends and participates in meetings, proactively shares ideas and opportunities to grow the business. Meeting attendance will be both virtual and in person.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years prior retail, sales, or customer service experience; bookstore or publishing experience is a plus

  • Ability to take initiative on projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work both independently and collaboratively

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Edelweiss a plus
