Summary The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Delaware Water Gap NRA (DEWA), is Apr-Dec, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Maintenance Workder for the unit. Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: Performs heavy custodial duties at duty stations, visitor sites, and office buildings. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing floors and walls, emptying trash cans, cleaning the restroom facilities (which include cleaning up bodily fluids/waste), and carrying and walking with heavy trash bags ups to 50-60 pounds from one location to another. Operates Park trucks, up to one ton, on a recurring basis for trash and recycling materials removal, grounds-keeping duties and for moving equipment and furniture. Performs semi-skilled and unskilled minor maintenance and repair work on building, structures, and equipment. Must be able to make repairs on faucets, sinks, toilets, and associated plumbing. Paints, stains, and refinishes furnishings. Responsible for trash and recycling barrels and keeps access sites and grounds around building clean and free of trash and debris. Conditions of Employment: Ability to safely operate a variety of motor vehicles. Operate a pickup truck, car, or van. Operate 4WD trucks up to 3/4 ton. Drive vehicles either for specific trip assignment or regularly established schedules and standard routes. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Driver's License: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. Probationary Period: If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or(c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. Physical Demands: Works from ladders, scaffolds and platforms and where surfaces to be coated, or the parts of systems worked on the hard to reach that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. Also, required to work in inclement weather and/or wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable.
