Position Overview:

The Sales Proposal Engineer/Application Engineer is responsible for interfacing with both the technical and business teams to execute on pre-contract customer focused deliverables such as bid/specification reviews, equipment selections, engineering and equipment cost estimates, installation requirements, etc. Provides input and information to sales managers and business development teams to produce profitable concise proposals for client submittals. Executes handover from Sales to Project Execution upon successful order.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to Internal and External clients including Consulting Engineers, End Users, Plant Operators, Sales Representatives, and Customer Service.
  • Works with Sales, Marketing and Process Engineering to evaluate each design request and identify unit sizing for prospective DGI applications.
  • Coordinate development of preliminary process design reports for DGI
  • Develops FTEK bid specifications applicable to suppliers and contractors for the FTEK DGI Technology. This would include commercial and technical details for issuance to equipment suppliers and fabricators, installation contractors, construction management, and outside engineering firms for bidding purposes.
  • In conjunction with Project Execution, Marketing, Sales, Finance and Legal, obtain all critical commercial, technical and process requirements for adequate proposal development and vendor RFQ specification development.
  • Determine all electrical, mechanical, engineering and service costs associated with preliminary process designs, bids and quotations.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates (margin sheet).
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable of DGI equipment operation and be capable of presenting technology to engineers, owners and operators in person or virtually.
  • Attends internal project kickoff meetings to ensure smooth and complete transfer of information from Sales to Project Execution.
  • Works with Project Execution in the early stages of execution to assist in the understanding of all equipment and installation requirements and to establish proper communications protocol for installation contractors, construction management and engineering firms.
  • Works with Project Execution through pre-contract phases to ensure clear and concise turnover of projects from proposal phase to project phase. This includes the development of project requirements including scope, schedule, budget, preliminary designs, performance guarantees, contract LDs, and warranties.
  • Support pre and post contract management activities including review of contract terms and conditions and coordination of insurance, shipping requirements, letters of credit and supplier qualifications.

  • Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with commercial pre-contract and post-contract management is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • BS required; BS in Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related training and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • EIT Certification or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds. May require long periods of sitting.

Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel +5-10% of the time.
