Corporate Affairs Director, Global Portfolio Communications, Oncology

What you will do

In this vital role, the Director, Global Portfolio Communications, Oncology is responsible for shaping the global communications strategy for Amgen’s Oncology therapeutic area. This position will support the Global Commercial Organization, specifically Global Commercial Capabilities and Therapeutic Area Governance teams in shaping and developing product communications strategies in advance of product launches through lifecycle management.

This role will report to the Executive Director, Global Portfolio Communications & Advocacy. It will be based in the US with the expectation of domestic and international travel to congresses and key events.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • An integral member of Amgen’s “global with local” model, leading the development of global communications plans for Amgen’s Oncology therapeutic area in support of successful market building, in-country launches and lifecycle management.

  • Interact cross-functionally with a variety of teams, serving as a member of the relevant oncology Integrated Brand Teams (IBTs), providing input on ongoing strategy and approach.

  • Develop communications toolkits, trainings and template materials for local country affiliates to customize and use locally.

  • Support key countries with pull-through of Global strategy and activation of priority initiatives.

  • Drive global insights gathering activities related to communications, such as regional media advisory board meetings and social media audits.

  • Work closely with the US Oncology Portfolio Communications team to pull through learnings and best practices for local launches and ensure consistent messaging and approach.

  • Partner with Global Patient Advocacy team on disease state education and elevating the patient experience.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of key communications trends and speak confidently about the value of communications.

  • Navigate regional differences and priorities; manage many different opinions and perspectives; and lead through ambiguity.

  • Translate business priorities to objectives, effectively communicating to others.

  • Proactively foster and expand key stakeholder relationships across departments.

  • Identify and recommend revisions to “Global with Local” model to optimize ways of working.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Corporate Communications, Advocacy or Marketing experience

Or

Master’s degree and 7 years of Corporate Communications, Advocacy or Marketing experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Corporate Communications, Advocacy or Marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Corporate Affairs related positions with increasingly progressive and impactful roles in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other industry area with strong regulatory oversight is preferred.

  • Experience working in international regions beyond the US and supporting local affiliates worldwide is highly desirable.

  • Experience launching medicines, including outside of the US, is preferred.

  • 4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
