The Associate Director is responsible for assisting in the effective delivery of an exceptional MBA experience for approximately 950+ Full-time, Flex, and Flex Online MBA students at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. This includes providing support for initiatives that are both academic and co-curricular in nature. The Associate Director will be responsible for working closely with students, student leaders, and MBA Student Organizations to identify priorities and needs and ensure the planning and execution of impactful events, programming, training, and more. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of MBA Operations & Student Services and playing an instrumental role in the co-curricular development and support of MBA students, duties include but are not limited to:

Event Management

  • Lead multiple program events, such as Orientation, logistics for the Opening Term and Global Business Experience, end-of-term and monthly study break celebrations, Disorientation, Reorientation, McDonough Cup, MBA Commencement, and more.

  • Coordinate logistics for co-academic and professional events, as well as the onboarding of new MBA students.

  • Monitor student organization budgets and finances related to all initiatives, including events.

  • Ensure student events follow university and MSB policies regarding space allocation, alcohol consumption, contracts, and allowable purchases.

Co-Curricular Support

  • Support MBA student organizations (Student Government Association and MBA Clubs), MBA Student Leaders, and Cohort Representatives in various co-curricular activities, including election of new offers, training, strategy meetings, training of new student leaders, calendar planning, and membership execution.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to support students' co-curricular activities, including MBA Career Center Office, Finance Office, GradGov, and Events Office.

  • Support and create initiatives that reflect the Spirit of Georgetown, including “Educating the Whole Person”, “People for Other”, and “Community in Diversity”.

Student Advising

  • Counsel and advise MBA students (Full-Time, Flex, and Flex-Online) and groups on several topics, including academics and co-curricular initiatives.

  • Meet regularly with students and organizations and provide counseling and support as needed.

  • Assist with the creation of policies and procedures to better communicate advising guidelines.

  • Develop and manage academic and professional development programs like Excel/PowerPoint workshops.

Technology and Communications

  • Assist in managing and developing technologies that enhance the experience of MBA students.

  • Update and improve technology platforms, including HoyaConnect, Canvas, and MyHoyaMBA.

Work Interactions

Associate Directors will have managerial opportunities, including supervising assistant directors, support staff, graduate students, and/or undergraduate student assistants and will regularly interact with MBA students, business executives, alumni, university administrators/officials, professors, vendors, and external parties. In addition, this position is also expected to provide senior leadership with insight, guidance, and recommendations in relation to the MBA Program Office and student experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience (experience in student services and University settings is highly preferred)

  • Experience working with students/customers/stakeholders with diverse backgrounds

  • Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills

  • Must be a multi-tasker, organized, and have the ability to work in a high pressured environment

  • Must be a self-starter, have strong attention to detail, and be able to work under tight deadlines

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc)

  • A Master’s degree is preferred

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as a Hybrid. Employees will work on campus some days each week and may work remotely on other days (on average, 1 to 2 days per week, depending on responsibilities and staffing needs). Must be able to meet with students and attend evening and weekend events on occasion.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
