The Director for Strategic Stakeholder Managementwill contribute to building a newly created US Scientific and Public Health Affairs programwith the aim of advancing Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR).The primary responsibilities of this role are to (1) independently evaluate, assess, and summarize the current environment, science, public health policies and goals, and help develop evidence-based strategic initiatives (2) build, strengthen and manage relationships with external stakeholders focused on engagements related to THR and reduced risk product-related science and impact (3) execute multiple initiatives and track them against clear objectives and department goals.This role will establish cross-functional partnerships and build relationships with internal and external partners to help drive alignment on key issues and the scientific & public health function’s strategy and plans. This person will maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures. WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Help build a strategic and impactful public health affairs program focused on THR and non-combustible reduced risk products.

  • Drive and manage the execution of US scientific & public health affairs’ engagement program and plans on THR.

  • Help build stakeholder relationships and engagement programs that reach critical stakeholder communities and thought leaders in the healthcare/medical, scientific, and public health communities.

  • Identify and work with academics and a variety of stakeholders and thought leaders to bring critical knowledge and feedback into the public health and policy programs.

  • Identify and build strategic partnerships and opportunities with relevant external NGOs and potential public health community groups.

  • Work with third party vendors to develop tools and ways to analyse and understand knowledge gaps and stakeholder misperceptions and, develop evidence-based outreach to address these.

  • Develop initiatives, plans, activities, and engagements that take ground-breaking science and transform it into education that advances new understanding on THR among key public health, medical and scientific audiences externally.

  • Author and/or co-author science, public health and policy articles that help educate key stakeholder audiences via multiple communication platforms.

  • Use data analytics and insights tools to inform, develop and track strategies, plans, initiatives and stakeholders.

  • Forecast and manage program budgets and negotiate contracts and vendor budgets in collaboration with procurement.

  • Establish cross-functional partnerships internally and collaborate withGlobal Life Sciences, Corporate Communications, Regulatory Affairs, Legal and External Affairs, and other relevant functions.

  • Represent the company at various forums, events, committees, and other relevant engagements.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • MD or, PhD in public health, health & allied sciences, biology or other relevant science disciplines with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a in a public health organization, relevant NGO or regulated industry.

  • Expertise and experience in translating science into impactful communications for different external and internal audiences.

  • Strong engagement, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with other functions within and external to the Company.

  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly accumulate and apply broad, cross-functional scientific and business knowledge.

  • Good influencing skills, project management skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to ambiguous or complex scientific challenges.

  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with senior level management and other functions within and external to the Company.

  • Experience working with and managing third party strategic and tactical vendors specific to this sub-function.

  • Knowledge of tobacco harm reduction public health research and nicotine science is a plus.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry, such as tobacco/nicotine, food/supplements/ingredients or pharmaceuticals is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple projects often under heightened time constraints.

  • Responsiveness to time-sensitive deliverables and versatility in a fast-paced environment
