ASRC Federal Holding Company Senior Technical Writer in Washington, District Of Columbia

ASRC Federal AFSS is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems. We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer to support a NASA contract in Washington, D.C.

Job Description: Provide technical expertise to the Office of Strategic Infrastructure (OSI) at NASA Headquarters by assisting the management of infrastructure programs and projects, provide best practices for policies, and support of management processes.

The Office of Strategic Infrastructures mission is to ensure that the right infrastructure assets and capabilities are available to the Agency, Centers, and programs and projects to accomplish the NASA mission requirements. OSI performs their mission through effective management of existing infrastructure (from IT tools and databases to rocket propulsion test stands) and high- level institutional planning and decision-making for infrastructure to meet the Agency's future needs. OSI develops up-to-date policy and standard documents for the NASA Online Directives Information System (NODIS) as well as other analyses and reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and publication of policy documents, procedural documents, guidance documents, plans, handbooks, and reports including:

  • Policy

  • Technical writing (ensuring compliance with any specified structure and formats; facilitating clear presentation of graphics and content; checking coherence, grammar, and spelling; and addressing the needs of the audience for style, tone, structure, and final publication format. This includes the final editing of the document plus aid in shaping the final content of the document).

  • Ensuring compliance with NPR 1400.1, NASA Directives Procedural Requirements and working with reviewers, NODIS editors, the Executive Secretariat, Technical Subject Matter Experts, and others, as needed, prior to publication.

  • Support the implementation of policy and best practices including:

  • Capturing content, agenda planning, and supporting meetings for technical and review teams for developing and reviewing

  • Facilitating community of practice

  • Developing out brief and messaging

  • Developing training

  • Supporting communications on policy to external stakeholders and internal NASA customers.

  • Developing reports and handbooks supporting the policy of

  • Complete technical editing and coordination of program and project documents into the established review and approval process with status communications to all interested stakeholders on a no less than weekly basis.

  • Provide proactive communication and expedite program and project documentation through the review and approval process when necessary.

  • Provide technical graphics support including diagrams, flow charts, and captioned photos as requested for reports, presentations, and publications as needed.

  • Establish continuous process improvements for content creation and documentation processes.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Advanced knowledge of Office 365 suite (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Outstanding proactive customer service with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate customer needs by recognizing areas of opportunity and quickly providing solutions.

  • Individuals must meet government NAC and citizenship/permanent residency requirements for access to NASA GSFC. Extensive background investigation will be performed as a requirement of the job.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 or more years of related professional experience or 15 years of experience in lieu of degree.
