The Manager of Public Health Stakeholder Engagementwill contribute to building an exciting new strategy as part of a newly created Scientific and Public Health Affairs function,with the aim of advancing Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) in the USA.The primary responsibilities of this role are to help develop a robust and comprehensive public health stakeholder program and drive the execution of the plan in collaboration with internal and external partners. You will need to review, analyse, and translate complex science and issues into stakeholder specific education, solutions and engagement that will be focused on THR and reduced risk products. You will establish relationships and work with multiple functions internally and must be comfortable in a matrixed organization. You will maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures. WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Support the direction on a newly formed scientific and public health affairs strategy focused on tobacco harm reduction (THR) and non-combustible reduced risk products.

  • Help develop and handle a comprehensive US public health stakeholder engagement program and plans on THR and reduced risk products that aligns with the company and functional strategy.

  • Execute outreach and engagement initiatives to educate critical stakeholder communities, that include healthcare/medical professionals and the broader scientific and public health communities.

  • Review the latest science and medical information and translate this into evidence-based audience-specific education plans, programs and supporting materials.

  • Author and / or co-author evidence-based articles and communications for multiple channels for a variety of audiences.

  • Engage with key public health stakeholders on evidence-based positions in support of THR.

  • Serve as the primary contact for specific stakeholder communities and manage certain external partners and third-party vendors.

  • Manage budget spend specific to the position’s responsibilities and liaise with functions such as procurement to bring new vendors on board.

  • Use and manage data analytics and insights tools to inform, develop and track strategies and plans internally and with the help of third-party organizations.

  • Establish cross-functional partnerships internally by liaising withGlobal Life Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, Legal and External Affairs, and other relevant functions.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • PhD in public health, biology, health or allied health sciences, health economics or other relevant disciplines with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in an academic institution, public health organization, relevant NGO or regulated industry. Or an M.S. in similar fields with 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience synthesizing complex technical/medical/science into concise, effective and impactful communications, for multiple formats and channels, and for different audiences.

  • Strong ability to apply critical thinking and analytical skills to ambiguous or complex public health and scientific challenges.

  • Strong engagement, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with multiple functions.

  • Self-starter with experience influencing effectively, excellent project management skills, and with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with multiple levels internally and externally.

  • Experience working with and managing third party strategic and tactical vendors specific to this sub-function.

  • Knowledge of tobacco harm reduction research and nicotine science is a plus.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and manage and execute multiple projects often under time constraints.
