Accounting Associate Washington, D.C. area $75k

My client is a fast growing construction company located in Washington, D.C. with a need for an Accounting Associate. The Accounting Associate will report to the Controller and work directly with Project Managers supporting a variety of operational accounting duties. The Accounting Associate will be responsible for the following duties:

•Processing of vendor accounts payable invoices

•Process employees expense reports, verifying project coding and obtaining approvals

•Post journal entries for AR and prepare cash receipts

•Secure releases of liens, certificates, and W9s from subcontractors/vendors

•Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

•Assist with annual audits (insurance, use tax, etc) and annual reviews.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of one year of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar

• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Cost-Job accounting necessary

• Demonstrated ability in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field preferred

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Familiarity with accounting software and systems

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Willingness to continuously improve and learn new skills.
