Summer Innovation Associate (temporary, full-time) - School of Medicine - Georgetown University Medical Center

A Summer Innovation Associate - in a temporary, full-time role - is a member of the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (https://som.georgetown.edu/diversityequityandinclusion/) , the center of Georgetown’s work in medicine, education, research, patient care, and access to the health professions. They lead high school and/or college students through one of our pipeline programs: ARCHES, GEP or SCS; build mentor relationships with students and guide them through the program curriculum; and perform program data analysis, assist social media campaign development, and support ongoing ODEIB Projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead high school and/or college students through one of our pipeline programs: ARCHES, CORE, GEP

  • Develop, support, advance community outreach and pipeline programs within the District of Columbia, middle schools, high schools, community colleges and colleges to begin to scope out talent pipeline partnerships

  • Benchmark diversity strategies across the country and across different sectors (tech, education, business) and adapt them to the school of medicine

  • Build a supportive community on campus that connects students, faculty and staff and features our diverse populations

  • Launch an exciting social media campaign to build an incredible community on social media spotlighting students and diversity equity, inclusion & belonging work at the School of Medicine.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

A Summer Innovation Associate has a role integral to the success of our pathway programs. They work hands-on with students daily, and serve as the liaison between our office and students. Their work permits the other two members of the team - the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging and the Strategy and Insight Manager - to focus on the high level of program execution and other necessary tasks of the office, including the M1 Orientation, GEMS program planning, and supporting faculty working subcommittees.

Reporting to the Strategy and Insight Manager and to the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, a Summer Innovation Associate ties into the overall mission of Georgetown being a world-class University. Proper execution of the program gives students full educational experiences filled with rich real-world experiences, civic engagement, and exposure to different faiths, cultures and beliefs.

This position has been designated as Hybrid - 4 days in person and 1 day telework. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate a change to a position’s mode of work designation. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Current Undergraduate or Master’s students with interests in education, public policy, leadership development, technology and higher education access /retention

  • Availability to be in person at Georgetown University from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays
