IBM Technical Project Manager in Washington, District Of Columbia

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and engineers in the successful execution of agile projects for a portfolio of software applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, agile methodologies, and IT modernization efforts, with experience working with stakeholders in the life sciences industry, particularly with NIH NIAID.

  • Lead a cross-functional team of designers, developers, and engineers in the planning, execution, and delivery of agile projects, ensuring successful project outcomes and meeting business objectives.

  • Oversee and mentor team members, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with program leadership and customer stakeholders to communicate project progress, address, and achieve project objectives efficiently.

  • Support the implementation and use of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to coordinate with other agile scrum teams in the organization.

  • Develop and maintain project plans, resource allocation plans, and project schedules to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies, and develop corrective actions as needed.

  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder management, including project status reporting, issue escalation, and change management.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least 8 years of Project Management experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required.

  • Agile certification (CSM, SAFe, PMI-ACP, etc.) required.

  • Experience with IT modernization efforts, including cloud migration, application development, and system integration.

  • Proven experience managing agile projects, with a strong understanding of agile principles and practices.

  • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, and effectively communicate project progress and issues.

  • Experience working with NIH NIAID or in the life sciences industry.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges and make informed decisions.

  • Ability to promote a collaborative team environment, facilitating teamwork, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience with cloud technologies, preferably MS Azure

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with project management tools, such as Jira, Asana, or Microsoft Project.

The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
