*The Assistant Group Supervisor *works with our children, staff and Program Director within the Rainbow End's Learning Center daycare.  He/she assists in the program and curriculum of children from 6 weeks of age to school age.  The Assistant Group Supervisor interacts daily with children through instruction combined with daily routines and playtime.  The goal is to provide a safe, nurturing and educational focused environment for all children within Rainbow's End Learning Center. The Assistant Group Supervisor oversees the daily routines and processes for the children in the classroom and ensures that all regulations and policies are being completed and documented.

 

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the basic child care needs of each child in the classroom including assistance with dressing, toileting, tying shoes, regular hand washing, face clean, dry clothes and any other tasks associated with good personal hygiene.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and clean environment for all children and staff by daily cleaning of room and documentation of completion.
  • Responsible of overall organization of the room, including but not limited to, decorating the room, coordinating, selecting and planned classroom activities. In line with Early Childhood Environment Rating Scales most up to date version and must maintain subscale score for Early Childhood rating scale inline with Keystone Stars Standards.
  • Provide communication to parents/guardians regarding daily activities of the children and any other issues or concerns that arise.
  • Report and document any concerns regarding the care or needs of any children to the room teacher and Program Director including any possible neglect or abuse.
  • Development of lesson plans based on the Creative curriculum lesson plans will be developed in accordance with the Early Learning standards which are to be used as a resource for staff in classroom planning and document of child's learning.
  • Provides daily sheets on child's disciplinary actions/meals for each child.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to move within the program to meet ratio requirements.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED) required
  • Associates degree from college or technical school, preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience or 2,500 hours of documented experience working with children
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred or must be willing to enroll in a CDA Program and maintain CDA Renewal every 3 years.
  • Submit an application for criminal clearance from Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, Department of Human Services Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Clearance, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and National Sex Offender Registry Clearance prior to employment. An employee must have received the results of the PA Criminal Background Clearance or DHS FBI Clearance prior to beginning employment, if remaining clearance results are not received within 45 days, employee will be suspended. 
  • If employee resides outside of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or has not been a resident for 5 years prior to hiring, an application for a Depa tment of Aging FBI criminal history record must be submitted prior to hiring. If completed FBI Criminal History Record is not received within 45 calendar days, employee will be suspended.
  • Upon hire submit a health assessment and results of a Mantoux tuberculin skin test, obtain health assessment every two years.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, turn, and move objects of up to and including 30 pounds. If over 30 pounds, must seek assistance.
  • Ability to stand and move about freely for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel to other PathWays locations and vendor locations.
  • Ability to perform repetitious work in an office environment and use manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
  • Physically capable of participation in physical management of children, including sitting, standing, running, walking, kneeling, stooping/bending, lifting, squatting, pushing, crawling, jumping, sliding, climbing, pinching, gripping, reaching over head, reaching away from body, and repetitive motion.
  • Requires normal range of vision.
