ATI is seeking to hire a Director of Product & Process Engineering to support our Specialty Rolled Products business unit. This position will be based in either Monaca, PA or Washington, PA (Pittsburgh-metro), splitting time between both locations as required by the duties of the role.

The Director of Product & Process Engineering is responsible for building and leading a productive team of technical engineers responsible for product and process development, operations support, and technical customer service.

This role will also improve alignment between the coil and plate teams in support of the market driven commercial growth strategies and process improvement initiatives to achieve optimized yields, optimized quality costs, and industry leading process capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, direct, maintain and support overall Product & Process engineering function for the Plate product line.

  • Support the growth of the product portfolio through the engagement of customers and the commercial department, development of optimized process practices, and support quality accreditation efforts.

  • Interact with external customers, professional organizations, and universities to promote ATI’s capabilities and projects.

  • Oversee certification and compliance issues for all product, process, and quality specifications.

  • Lead the technical focus direction of the group and be responsible for helping to develop and support the short and long-term growth strategies.

  • Engage and lead cross-functional teams to plan and implement programs to optimize product profitability.

  • Facilitate the recruiting and professional development of team members.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering and/or Metallurgy, or related technical discipline

  • Seven (7) years of product and process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in metallurgy

  • Engineering leadership/management experience

  • Experience in specialty alloy or metals production

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehends the critical nature of the material requirements.

  • Understanding statistical process control, PC computers and Microsoft Office.

  • Highly technically competent, persuasive and organized .

  • Proficient computer experience with the Microsoft Office Software Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc., and the ability to learn and utilize job related systems.

  • Proven managerial and leadership abilities.
