[**[Job Summary of the CNC Machinist:[I[n this CNC Machinist position, you will assist with daily production, scheduling, and setup of both CNC and conventional machines. You will get to work with a variety of materials and components and work through special setups for customer projects.[CNC Machinist responsibilities are to set up and operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) vertical machining centers, CNC lathes, and 4-axis controllers to produce high tolerance and precision metallic and nonmetallic parts by performing the following duties.

Reads, studies, and accurately interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerance of finished workpieces or parts, sequences of operations, and setup requirements.
Creates, adjusts, or modifies CNC programs either manually or with Computer Aided Machining software (CAM).
Measures, marks, and confirms specification dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and drill presses.
Calculates and sets machine controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions, collisions of machine or tools, out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
