Pay Range

$72,100.00-$99,100.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Job Posting Title: Associate Research Chemist (Waterville, OH)

Position Overview:

The Associate Research Chemist will work on the development and optimization of new JM nonwoven products. The new member of the Innovation & Commercial team will conduct bench-scale experiments independently and will collaborate with the team for pilot line and production scale-up trials to evaluate new nonwoven products, binders, and functional coatings. Their contribution will range from chemical synthesis, characterization, development of new test methods, and statistical analysis in support of manufacturing specifications.

Your Day to Day:

  • Perform laboratory synthesis, experimentation, testing and data analysis through independent application of standard principles
  • Develop new test methods and procedures or refine established procedures
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to define and execute technical projects
  • Travel to manufacturing plants to apply technical expertise to a variety of product or process development projects
  • Present concepts, research plans, project updates and accomplishments internally to peers and to senior management team or externally to customers and others
  • Provide internal technical services to operations when product issues and customer complaints arise for existing and new products
  • Use statistical tools, such as Six Sigma, to design experiments and analyze data
  • Use material characterization techniques to collect property and process data; and develop structure/process/property relationships
  • Maintain and specify laboratory instrumentation
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned

What You Bring to The Team

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, coatings and/or polymeric materials and minimum one year of research and development experience

Working knowledge of general laboratory practices, chemical analysis and methods for physical properties evaluation
