Overview

Our client specializes in the design, implementation, and upkeep of distributed power solutions, particularly those involving gas engine stations and combined heat and power (CHP) systems. The company is recognized as a key distributor for INNIO Jenbacher across the Midwest, emphasizing eco-friendly energy advancements such as biogas refinement and peak-load power stations, aiming to deliver robust and effective energy support.

To manage and lead a high-quality Engineering Design function in support of the company's business aims and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership : Quantify the initial engineering needs and structure of the US Engineering Team, continuously assess and recruit as necessary.

  • Onboarding and Training : Manage an efficient onboarding and training program for all new employees.

  • Engineering Design : Lead and manage the Engineering Design function, applying expertise to drive professional engineering principles throughout the department.

  • Performance Management : Take overall responsibility for the performance and professional development of team members, providing feedback, support, and coaching as needed.

  • Project Management : Prioritize, manage, and coordinate departmental activities to ensure high-quality and timely engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for:

  • New enquiries and pre-sale specifications/documentation.

  • New installations and the company range of products.

  • Project Reviews : Undertake regular project reviews to track progress, addressing any issues or delays as necessary.

  • Resource Allocation : Oversee and allocate resources to ensure timely responses to ad-hoc inquiries and requests.

  • Standardization : Ensure company-wide standardization of equipment and processes, working with the QUENSH Manager to update existing and develop new processes as necessary.

  • Site Visits : Undertake or delegate site visits as required.

  • Post-Project Support : Provide post-project completion support to the Service Department.

  • Software Maintenance : Ensure regular review and renewal of engineering design software.

  • Health, Safety, and Quality : Ensure the Engineering team adheres to Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management policies and procedures.

  • Continuous Improvement : Stay updated with developments in the field and contribute to organizational thinking about new possibilities and developments.

  • Representation : Represent Engineering at internal and external meetings, collaborating with other senior team members to foster an environment of continuous improvement and maximize opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)

  • Minimum of 7-10 years in a senior engineering role in a relevant industry

  • Experience managing multi-discipline projects

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Multi-discipline engineering understanding and knowledge

  • Current knowledge of available engineering design software

  • Project Management experience

  • Performance Management and coaching skills

  • Ability to travel within the USA (<25%)

  • Time-served Engineer with practical experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration highly desired
