This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Renewables Merchant will provide advanced knowledge to handle highly complex regulatory and customer needs to fulfill and deliver requirements and specifications in terms of carbon intensity (CI) score, regulation, timing, volume, quality, and cost. In this role, you will be a domain specialist to execute the purchase and sale of Low Carbon Feedstocks based on customer needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work directly with customers, suppliers, and business counterparts to meet their needs to develop customized business solutions for an overall strategy.

  • Collaborate with functional teams to place the optimal feedstock based on carbon intensity (CI) score, regulatory requirements, quality, and cost.

  • Plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities.

  • Independently work with the accounting and finance departments to resolve monthly contract and inventory valuations for short- or long-term strategies.

  • Independently review analysis of freight and supply chain opportunities in the marketplace conducted by more junior members of the team to maximize margin.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with state and federal biofuels policies

  • Previous experience buying and selling Low Carbon Feedstocks to produce renewable fuels.

  • Strong background building strong customer relationships.
