Overview

Our client specializes in the development and manufacturing of innovative drug delivery systems, including Transdermal Patches (“TTS”) and Oral Thin Films (“OTF”) as well as wearable drug delivery devices (“OBDS”). They are known for developing the first nicotine patch for smoking cessation and the first transdermal patches for the treatment of Alzheimer and Parkinson’s diseases.

The Facilities Enginee r will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering support, overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of facility standards at our West St. Paul facilities. This role involves managing various projects, from purchasing and installation of new equipment to leading facility design and construction efforts. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities, Maintenance & Safety, the Facilities Engineer will collaborate closely with different departments to drive cost-saving initiatives, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize expertise in facility engineering to troubleshoot complex issues related to utilities and support services, including compressed air, dust collection/vacuum, purified water systems, and pharmaceutical HVAC systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and address facility-related challenges.

  • Support the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of building infrastructure and equipment.

  • Develop and present facility specifications, cost estimates, and project proposals for approval.

  • Lead the execution and review of IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for equipment and utilities, ensuring compliance with FDA standards.

  • Conduct risk management activities such as CAPA, FMEA, and DFMEA.

  • Design and coordinate regulatory testing, develop procedures, and maintain documentation.

  • Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing cost efficiency, quality, and operational effectiveness.

  • Utilize building management systems to maintain compliance with cGMP requirements.

  • Provide strategic input on facilities and infrastructure development.

  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for infrastructure delivery, installation, and qualification.

  • Assist in creating preventive maintenance plans and reactive work orders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering-related field, preferably Mechanical Engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in facility engineering.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, including FDA regulations (cGMP, GxP).

  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools, such as CAD, facility management software, and energy management systems.

  • Strong project management skills, including budget and timeline management.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
