Abbott Product Transfer Scientist II in Westbrook, Maine

The position of Product Transfer Scientist II is within our Infectious Disease Markets business unit located in Westbrook, Maine . In this role you will execute and direct development and transfer work in collaboration with others. This position functions within the Operations department to transfer new products from R&D, and exercises direction on projects pertaining to the creation and design of new products and processes as well as on-market product support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Works both independently and as of part of a multi-disciplinary team with other scientists, engineers, and Operations personnel, to lead specific projects and develop new processes.

  • Designs, performs and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.

  • Drafts and executes experimental plans, protocols and reports per applicable design control and quality management system requirements.

  • Analyzes experimental results and presents findings and conclusions to leadership.

  • Transfers new technologies and products to Operations.

  • Correlates work and comprehends the relation of the problem to a larger one. Provides suggestions related to assigned problems.

  • Works collaboratively with other team scientists and project core team members to execute and deliver project, department, site and corporate strategic goals.

  • Investigates problem areas and areas of desirable product improvement.

  • May supervise and mentor junior team members.

Education and Experience YOU'LL BRING

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related Scientific discipline

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible positions within the diagnostic industry

  • Technically proficient in laboratory skills

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Mathematics and computer literacy

  • Ability to travel occasionally

COMPETENCIES:

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey appropriate information with clarity and effectiveness

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Broad knowledge of the technical aspects of immunodiagnostics

  • Understanding of the procedures, processes, records, software systems and infrastructure of the Operations department

  • Proficiency in basic MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred. MS Project, Visio, and statistical software (JMP) a plus

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
