Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Quality Nurse (CQN) in the Institute for Quality, Innovation and Patient Safety (IQIPS) works as a member of an interdisciplinary team to support quality improvement initiatives in the system and to ensure high quality clinical care is provided to patients, families and the communities served. This individual reviews literature and identifies evidence-based practices to improve the quality, efficiency and safety of clinical care. The Clinical Quality Nurse (CQN) promotes innovation in a patient-centered and value-based care environment. This individual aligns with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) quadruple aim to improve the patient experience of care, improve the health of populations, reduce the cost of care, and to improve the work life of health care providers including physicians and staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Graduate of a school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health or health care related field.

Preferred/Optional: Master’s degree in nursing or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required: Five years of recent clinical experience. Strong leadership skills and at least three years of experience in a leadership role in a clinical setting. Demonstrated experience in the process of critical inquiry to improve clinical practice. Demonstrated nursing and systems knowledge and be able to relay this to colleagues, health professionals, allied professionals, health care consumers, and professional/public organizations.

Preferred/Optional: Management experience. Project implementation experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required: Current unrestricted Wisconsin Registered Nurse License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.

Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
