TREMPEALEAU COUNTY Welder / Mechanic in WHITEHALL, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of this position is to weld, repair, and fabricate parts and repairs for various machines and equipment used in road construction and maintenance. Consists of over 300 pieces of specialty road work equipment including but not limited to: Dump trucks, semis, tractors, road painting trucks, road signing trucks, logging and clearing equipment, various size excavators, trailers, end loaders, bulldozers, graders, skid steers, compactors, pavers, rollers, chip spreaders, shoulder machines, pulverizors, road brooms, snow plow equipment, liquid ice removal equipment, road routers, tar kettles, asphalt hotboxes, conveyors and stackers. Also many various small tools including but not limited to: chainsaws, leaf blowers, dirt augers, lawn mowers, water pumps, and all aspects of a hot mix asphalt plant equipment such as asphalt silos, oil tanks, aggregate bin hoppers, and elevator and conveyors. The work is performed under the supervision of the Shop Superintendent. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to advise and provide interpretation to others how to apply policies, procedures and standards to specific situations. Ability to utilize a wide variety of descriptive data and information such as work orders, time cards, safety regulations, blueprints and general operating manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with department personnel and vendor representatives. Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide, and calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals. Ability to use functional reasoning and apply rational judgment in performing diversified work activities.
