Borton-Lawson, a Verdantas Company is a national consulting group seeking a talented Electrical Staff Engineer III to join our team. This is a hybrid position and must be local to Wexford , Wilkes-Barre , Bethlehem , PA, or Somerville, NJ .

Borton-Lawson’s Oil & Gas practice is growing, and an Engineer needs to support a diverse range of projects, including well pads, compressor stations, RNG, LNG, and more. Work within multi-disciplinary teams and be a part of this exciting adventure.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs related to Oil & Gas related projects. Typical projects include upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities such as Compressor Stations, LNG, and processing facilities

  • Project controls, cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and manpower requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders

  • Lead design work and QA/QC plan sets and specifications

  • Client communication and coordination

  • Coordinate with Business Development for the Market Sector Leaders at Borton-Lawson

  • Requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a solid knowledge of principles and practices of related technical areas

  • Requires a broad knowledge of the application of engineering to plant constructability as applied to construction methods and materials and the economics involved

  • Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from the Project Manager or Discipline Manager on unusual or complex problems

  • Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers

  • Assigns and coordinates work to Drafters and ?

  • Assume the lead engineer's role on assigned projects

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate a program of assigned engineering work and projects

  • Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other data to plan and design work

  • Assemble bid, approval, and construction issue drawing packages

  • Review bid analyses and make recommendations

  • Attend and participate in Client and Borton-Lawson's design review meetings

  • Direct and/or participate in job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or scientific discipline through a combination of experience and continuing education.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

  • Licensed P.E. is preferred

  • 5-10 years of experience with advanced knowledge in electrical engineering

  • Oil & Gas industry experience is preferred

  • AutoCAD experience

  • REVIT and/or Plant 3D experience is a plus

  • Electrical analysis software – Experience with ETAP and/or SKM including Arc Flash, Short-Circuit, PD Coordination, Power Quality, and Harmonic Analysis

  • Coordinating in a multi-discipline engineering team

  • Experience with low and medium-voltage applications, switchgear, MCC’s, utility coordination, lightning protection, and protection relays

  • Knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) Standards, and Standards Associations including AGA, ANSI/NEMA, IEEE, API

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
