Upper MIssouri District Health Unit (UMDHU) has a position open for a Full-Time RN/Public Health Nurse.

Pay: $31.34 to $39.17 per hour DOE - Excellent Benefit Package

MISSION: To serve clients and residents of the Upper Missouri District Health Unit through evidence-based public health nursing interventions aimed at increasing the overall public health. Providing preventative health services that facilitates healthy behaviors and provides early detection of preventable disease and/or risk to clients.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Public Health Nurse I provide an array of professional public health nursing services to UMDHU residents including individuals, families, community groups and the general public.

Qualifications (Desirable):

• Master's Degree in Public Health Nursing desired; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; must possess current North Dakota RN License and/or be eligible for RN Licensure.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential):

• Thorough knowledge of public health programs
• Excellent clinical judgment decision-making and critical thinking skills
• Comprehensive knowledge of computer use including networked database and office applications
• Ability to develop positive internal and external working relationships
• Ability to remain objective
• Knowledge and Commitment to Public Health Philosophy

Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Desirable):

• Minimum three years experience in nursing
• One year experience in community/public and/or home health
• Basic knowledge of program management and implementation
• Ability to learn/operate necessary equipment
• Public Speaking skills
• Basic computer word processing and internet skills and abilities

Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License;
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8-5p including flexible hours including nights and weekends as required;
• Ability to travel throughout district;
• Ability to respond to public health emergencies as directed by supervisor.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY:

Employees are responsible and accountable for:

• Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control
• Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety
• Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace
• Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment as required

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position assumes responsibility for competence in the field of public health services including administration and clinical competence and professional development. The Public Health Nurse is responsible for identifying health needs and disparities and working with management to allocate resources for impact of public health approaches.
