PRIMARY FUNCTION:
\ This position handles responsible work in the field of Urban Planning and independently conducts research, collects data, designs studies, and formulates and evaluates alternative course of action.
\ Recommends goals, strategies, objectives, programs, regulations, and incentives in principle fields such as land use, comprehensive planning, housing, environment historic preservation, or economic development.\ PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
\ Represents the Director, Deputy Director, or other City officials at public meetings.
\ Testifies as an expert witness before City Council and quasi-judicial boards.
\ Acts as a liaison with outside consultants.
\ Works on revisions to the Comprehensive Plan; prepares amendments and revisions to the zoning ordinance and other legislation, designs studies; prepares grant applications; provides technical assistance both within and outside City government.
\ Provides staff support to the City Planning Commission and Design Review and Preservation Commission.
\ Conducts planning activities at the direction of the Director and Deputy Director of Planning.
\ Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
\ Performs all related work as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
\ Work is performed mostly in a quiet office environment, while seated at a desk with a computer.
\ Required to use hands, fingers, close vision, and reach with hands and arms.
\ Occasionally required to walk.
\ Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment physical.
