Berry Global QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER in WINCHESTER, Virginia

Overview

Are you an experienced leader in Quality Assurance? Berry Global in Winchester, VA is looking to add a Quality Assurance Manager to our team! This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring quality systems plant-wide. The position also serves as the SQF Practicioner for the facility, spearheads all ISO recertification intitiatives, and serves on the plant HACCP team.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.

  • Responsible for adhering to Food Safety Compliance.

  • Responds to any emergency or potential emergency.

  • Responsible for security diligence, including maintaining control of door accesses, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees and proper maintenance/security of Berry equipment and information.

  • Constant vigilance and participation in GMP and SQF practices.

  • Assist in the prevention of nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.

  • Identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality systems.

  • Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any nonconformity of product or quality systems.

  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.

  • Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes or systems and very the implementation of solutions.

  • Responsible for department’s adherence to the GMP.

  • Track, confirm and verify training for employees in the department and schedule training as needed and required.

  • Continual improvement of process and Quality procedures for the plant location.

  • Mentor and develop Quality leadership at plant level.

  • Reduction of CIO’s for overall process improvements that will enhance overall EBITDA performance.

  • Provide skill development opportunities for all Quality employees.

  • Work closely with customer base concerning expectations and future projects.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts.

  • Reduce customer complaints due to quality related problems.

  • Serve as Point of Contact for Customer Related Quality Issues.

  • Serve as Point of Contact for Vendor Complaints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Engineering or related field of study.

  • Understanding of Quality programs, Six Sigma and audit procedures for ISO, SQF and HACCP.

  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Working knowledge of customer audits, product line, and requirements.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct in a positive manner.

  • Proven ability to identify and prioritize major areas of opportunity and take appropriate actions.

  • Travel as needed.

  • Proven track record in overall improvement of Quality programs and goal attainment for plant metrics.
