WestRock Company Plant Maintenance Leader in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on position that will supervise all shift maintenance technicians and work closely with outside service contractors on the applicable shift. Individual will oversee the service and or repair of operating equipment as well as schedule, perform and document Preventative Maintenance for required plant and production equipment on applicable shift.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • Assist, schedule and direct Maintenance Technician(s) to set up and maintain equipment to meet customer production requirements.

  • Assist, schedule and direct Service Contractors to perform repairs and installations following WestRock procedures and guidelines.

  • Form close relationships with vendors to build knowledge, training and support on equipment.

  • Perform and document Preventative Maintenance (PM) using the JDE program guidelines.

  • Conform to WestRock, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations for the use, storage, shipment and disposal of all regulated chemicals and products used in the plant.

  • Work closely with all department supervisors to make sure machine downtime is kept to a minimum and machines are running at optimal efficiency.

  • Direct supervision of shift maintenance staff.

  • Assist Management in executing operating strategies and plans and achieving company goals and objectives.

  • Conduct performance reviews of all shift maintenance hourly reports. Provide training and development as well as coaching and needed discipline.

  • Approve and monitor hourly reports time in Kronos.

What you need to succeed:

  • High school diploma or GED minimum

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and basic computer skills.

  • To be considered for this position, candidate must currently be a Tech Level III or Tech Level IV with a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience.

  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate working knowledge in both Electrical and Mechanical fields. Past supervisory or Lead man experience a plus.
