Join our clients family-owned business with a rich history, located just west of O'Hare Airport in Illinois. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and production of their precision stereotactic equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, proficiency in SolidWorks, and expertise in precision motion systems. You will work collaboratively with their small, dedicated team to ensure high-quality, low-volume production runs.

responsibilities:

• Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of product lines.

• Apply basic engineering concepts and mechanical processes to design new and existing devices.

• Work collaboratively with different teams, including electrical engineers and scientists.

• Suggest and implement methods to improve operational efficiency.

• Read and understand designs and schematics.

• Utilize SolidWorks for design and development.

• Specific experience with precision movement systems, such as those used in 3D printers or stereotactic equipment, is critical.

• Ensure precision motion, especially linear motion, in designs.

• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

• Oversee machining processes and knowledge of different materials.

• Take products from concept through production, including packaging for quotes to machine houses.

• Manage the supply chain and ensure high-quality production runs.

• Handle production runs of 25-100 units with a focus on high quality.

• Be the primary mechanical engineer, leading projects independently.

• Collaborate in a team-oriented environment to enhance product development and operational efficiency.
