Job Title: Business Development Specialist

Summary

The Business Development (BD) Specialist works as a full-time employee of Zeiders Enterprises, Inc. (Zeiders) in the corporate home office located in Woodbridge, VA. The BD Specialist works as a member of the Business Development Team and contributes to the company’s capture activities and proposal writing. The BD Specialist will organize, coordinate, and help execute a variety of Business Development activities, including researching opportunities, gathering and analyzing data, writing and editing communications, and assisting with the coordination of the proposal writing process. This team member is highly collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, creative, and inquisitive, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work independently and within a team under general instructions on a wide variety of special and ongoing projects.

  • Conduct research regarding existing and prospective opportunities, competitor activity, and market trends/opportunities.

  • Conduct comprehensive research projects, including assisting with capture activity and other administrative studies as assigned.

  • Gather and analyze data to determine solutions for issues or questions and then make recommendations to BD Team based on findings.

  • Perform writing assignments as required. These include, but are not limited to, sections of proposals, administrative memoranda, email messages, notifications, transmittal letters, and acknowledgement of receipt emails.

  • Edit various written communications as directed, including proposal editing.

  • Coordinate and schedule capture/proposal process meeting as directed.

  • Maintain an efficient flow of information between all levels of the company including internal and external contacts on a wide spectrum of plans and priorities; exercise judgment and discretion in prioritizing conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.

  • Draft meeting agendas and meeting materials, including PowerPoint decks and other supporting documentation, prepare meeting summaries.

  • Perform other duties as may be required.

Required Education and/or Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of related experience.

  • Must possess effective communication and analytical skills, both oral and written to include ability to write with effective grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Ability to proofread and revise own work and that of others.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, SharePoint; Online Help Tools

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility.

  • Ability to work well with other staff, individuals, and organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within business development and/or the proposal writing process.

  • Professional experience with government contracting.

  • Military lifestyle experience (e.g., veteran, military spouse).

Physical Demands: Works in office areas. Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during working hours. Uses personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers, and other office equipment.
